Flood in eastern Turkey kills six from same family

Six people from the same family were killed Wednesday when floodwaters swept away their house in Saclik village of the eastern province of Erzrum.

The Kocabas residence, which was built on a creek bed, was destroyed at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday following torrential rains in the area, according to Hurriyet Daily News & Economic Review.

Villagers retrieved the bodies kilometers away while local authorities transported them to Horasan State Hospital.

The heavy rainfall that affected Erzurum also caused another flood that swept away a portion of the road that connected the towns of Koprukoy and Karayazi, leaving motorists on both sides of the road stranded.
