Chavez promised to campaign for Abkhazia's and South Ossetia's independence in Latin America

Venezuela's President Hugo Chaves has promised to call on Latin American countries to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Chavez said as he summarized the results of the meeting with the Abkhazian and South Ossetian Presidents Sergei Bagapsh and Eduard Kokoiti in Karakas.

"I am sure that together with Abkhazia and South Ossetia we will be able to build strong relationship with Latin American countries - Paraguay, Uruguay, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil and Argentine," said Chavez.

According to Russian website RBK a series of agreement on economic cooperation have during this meeting been signed.

Abkhazia and South Ossetia have so far been recognized by Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Nauru.
