The Hague court ruling cannot be limited to Kosovo: Artsakh foreign ministry

The International Court of Justice, with its July 22 ruling over the legality of the declaration of Kosovo, confirmed and fixed that nation's right to self-determination and the implementation of this right do not break any principles or rules of the international law, including the principle of territorial integrity, says a statement released by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.

"That ruling has an extremely important judicial, political and moral, as well as a universal precedential significance and is not limited to Kosovo's example.

"The People of Artsakh, by implementing its right to establish a state, had to resist the military aggression organized by Azerbaijan due to which thousands were dead, tens of thousands were displaced and became migrants. Those actions have not till today been duly evaluated by the international community.

"By resisting Azerbaijan's aggressive policy the people of Artsakh continue to build civic and democratic state, making it part of the regional security system in the South Caucasus.

"Artsakhi people's right to build and have its own state, as well as to decide its own fate, will be recognized by the international community as it has been implemented in line with the fundamental principles of the international law and is a just and agonized achievement," reads the statement.
