Mostly low segment cars imported to Armenia this year

Armenia has during the first semester in 2010 seen less cars imported compared to the same period yesteryear, according to a release issued by the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

This year 8137 cars have been imported, while during the same period in 2009 the number of the imported cars was 9143.
The customs payment levied from these imports have made a total of 10,220b AMD. At the same time of all the cars imported only 738 were made in Russia.

The cars represent different price segments: the price of 3,303 imported cars has not exceeded $5,000 USD, 2,558 have cost from 5-10 thousand USD, 812 - 10-15 thousand USD, 902 - 15-30 thousand and only 562 cars have cost more than $30,000 USD.

Interestingly, Armenia had registered an increase in imported cars before the global financial-economic crisis. If in 2007 some 34,672 cars had been imported and 41,910 in 2008, then the number of imported cars dropped to 17,296 in 2009.
