Is Senate dismissing Matthew Bryza's candidature as ambassador to Azerbaijan?

Presided by Democrat Senator John Kerry the US Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs will on August 3 hold a working meeting with candidates of US ambassadors to be appointed in various countries.

Citing the official website of the Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee Azerbaijani news website 1news.az informs that Matthew Bryza's name is not included in the list of 25 candidates invited to that meeting.

On July 22 the Committee held a hearing on Bryza's nomination when he had to answer to some unpleasant questions posed by the panel. Particularly, the Senators raised issues related to a car accident Bryza was invloved while in diplomatic service in Moscow in 1995-1997, as well to his marital relation with an Azerbaijani citizen and a scandaluous row linked to the expensed of his lavish wedding party in Istanbul which was allegedly paid by former Azeri Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev.
