HAK preparing to appeal to European Court of Human Rights: But before that - Court of Cassation

The lawsuit against raising the gas tariffs filed by the opposition movement Armenian National Congress (HAK) earlier this year will be taken to the Court of Appeal, HAK lawyer Vahe Hovsepyan told Tert.am.

Earlier Court of Appeal had satisfied the request by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia to raise the gas tariff. The court had also rejected HAK's motion to examine the case in oral form.

"We have a one-month period for appeal and we are going to appeal [that ruling]. We will in the near future appeal to the Court of Cassation," said Mr Hovsepyan, adding that they do not have any expectation from this court either.

"We are simply passing through all the instances so that in the future we can appeal to the European Court of Human Rights," explained he.

More than 7,000 citizens had signed HAK's claim against the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
