High court reaches stricter punishment for pedophile teacher

On August 4 the Court of Appeal publicized its ruling relating to a criminal case of a pedophile teacher sentenced already by the Court of First Instance.

The Court ruled to add one year to the term of Levon Avagyan's (L) sentence, and he will now have to spend a total of 3 years in prison.
Avagyan, former teacher at the Special School #11 in Nubarashen, Yerevan, had been sentenced to 2 years over pedophilia charges.

But two former schoolchildren of that school appealed the verdict reached by the Court of First Instance.

However, one of the plaintiffs had changed her mind and taken back the appeal.
