Armenian firefighters to stay in Russia one more week

Armenian firefighters will stay for one more week in Russia to help extinguish wildfires, according to an agreement between Armenia's Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan and his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu.

Wildfires in woods and peat bogs have now affected many parts of Russia wreaking much havoc. Moscow remained under a smog cover for a few days but soon the Muscovites enjoyed relatively clear sky after the weather changed and it rained sporadically.

In a phone conversation with Tert.am Head of Rescue Forces at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Pavel Gyozalyan, who is currently supervising the group of Armenian firefighters in Russia, said that their 28-stong firefighters' group is presently in the vicinities of Pervomaisk region, Nijni Novgorod.

"Since yesterday we were brought in the Pervomaisk region, Nijni Novgorod, We have been working; we have put off fires till late at night. Currently we are waiting for fuel to continue the works," said he, adding that all the personnel is safe and sound and that there is no need for concern.
