Karabakh conflict must be resolved within Azerbaijan's territorial integrity: Abdullah Gul

When it comes to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, then it must without any doubt be resolved in the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev following a one-on-one visit during his visit to Baku, reports Azerbaijani state-run news agency AzerTadj.

"Of course, we widely discussed the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations; the president elaborated on the current situation. We are sure that we will turn the Caucasus into a region of stable cooperation. And to do so this problem must be resolved," said he.

"This conflict continues already 18 years, but it must not be so in the future. For this to happen it is a must to held meetings, conduct discussions, sometimes conduct open and sometime secret diplomatic activities. Undoubtedly, the conflict must be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan."

According to Mr Gul everyone must know this, as the international law cannot welcome any infringement of the borders recognized by the UN.

"Everyone must know this, as any infringement of the borders recognized by the UN by foreign country cannot be welcomed or positively accepted by the international law. In this sense we will all continue provide any kind of support to solve this problem," said Mr Gul.
