3 reasons CSTO summit in Yerevan will be important: Sergei Minasyan

The upcoming informal summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to be held from August 20-22 in Yerevan will be rather of symbolic significance in general, but for Armenia it will have three important reasons, politologist and Vice-Director of the Caucasus Institute Sergei Minasyan said at a press conference today.

The first reason, according to him, is that within this summit CSTO Quick Response Collective Forces are being established.

The second reason that this summit is important for Armenia is that Yerevan can forge military-technical cooperation with CSTO members.

Another reason the CSTO informal summit is significant for Armenia is that Yerevan gains political dividends from its CSTO’s membership.

“More than the propaganda that exists in the information field, this summit cannot give. But [at the same time] it gives Armenia nothing negative,” said Mr Minasyan.
