Russia has always needed Armenia without Armenians: Aharon Adibekyan

If your enemy is raping you, don't resist, just relax and get maximum pleasure, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan recalled one of US army rules for female soldiers as spoke about Armenian-Russian relations at a news conference today.

Speaking about the recent news that Russia will soon prolong an agreement that regulates the presence of the Russian military base in Armenia for 49 years, Mr Adibekyan drew parallels between this US army provision and the Armenia-Russia relations, meaning that Armenia has willy-nilly to accept whatever Russia proposes.

"We have to accept their proposal, but the point is how we will benefit from the new agreement," said he.

According to Mr Adibekyan the duration of an agreement is usually prolonged if it is about to expire, while in our case only about half of the duration of that agreement has passed.

"This is unprecedented. Russia says this: I will be here for half century and you cannot do here anything without me," explained Mr Adibekyan.

In his words, Russia has always needed Armenia without Armenians and due to that it welcomes the Armenian without any reluctance.

"Russia has never given sovereignty to Armenians," said he, adding that Armenia should be given specific guarantees in return for the prolongation of that aforementioned military agreement.
