Baku confirms its ambitions to buy Georgian section of North-South pipeline

Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) has not ruled out the possibility that it might acquire all oil and gas pipelines in Georgia, including the one that carries Russian gas to Armenia (North-South) which Georgia recently moved off the list of state property non-subject for sale, reports Azerbaijani news website AZE.az., citing Rovnag Abdullaev, the President of SOCAR.

Mr Abdullaev also said that Azerbaijan is interested in exploiting and governing Georgia's pipelines.

"Azerbaijan State Oil Company is interested in acquiring the Georgian part of the gas pipeline that links Armenia to Russia. Currently we are discussing it," he was quoted as saying.
