Azerbaijani deserter sentenced to 13 years

Former Azerbaijani soldier has been sentenced on high treason charges, reports Azerbaijani news website APA.

Rafig Rahman Hasanov has been found guilty by Azerbaijani Military Court of Grave Crimes, headed by Judge Zeynal Aghayev, and has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Rafig Rahman Hasanov, 21, deserted the Azerbaijani military forces on the contact line of Gazakh region on October 8, 2008. He is charged with Article # 274 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.

On April 7 of this year Hasanov was handed over to Azerbaijan on Eraskhavan-Sederek territory on Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
