Medvedev and Sargsyan exchanged toasts, walked in Republican Square and listened to Russian classical music

"This visit is a significant one. The concept of the state visit symbolizes the highest level of relations that can exist between two states. And this visit is a best opportunity to discuss our the dynamics of our relations, to summarize some results and to outline the new aims of our friendly partnership," Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a state dinner served to the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his wife Svetlana Medvedeva, according to a release issued by the presidential administration.

"We are proud of the friendly, ancient and strong ties between our peoples with the multi-faceted and successful cooperation of the two states. The Armenian-Russian cooperation is one of the most important components to ensure security and stability in the Caucasian region. The evidence will be the important issues we will discuss further," said Mr Sargsyan.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev thanked him for a warm welcome and the kind words addressed to the Russian Federation.

"Our relations really date back to centuries. And what is important is that during the hardest times in history our peoples have traditionally been supporting each other. The examples are many," said Mr Medvedev, adding that Armenia was among the first states that came to rescue when wildfires started to devastate some parts of Russia.

"Russian-Armenian bilateral relations, as well as in the framework of the CSTO and CIS are really very close. They can even be described as exemplary, moreover, in all aspects. … I want to personally thank Armenia's leadership, all the colleagues for strengthening our relations, for their candid aspirations to develop our friendly relations that tie our countries," said Mr Medvedev.

After the dinner Mr Medvedev and Mr Sargsyan, accompanied by their wives, had a walk in the Republican Square in the center of Yerevan where the Singing Fountains, in front of The History Museum of Armenia, were playing Russian classic music.
