To go or not to go? Chose the least of two evil, says Turkologist

Any country that organizes such events it pursues its own interests, political commentator Hakob Chakryan said at a press conference today as he spoke about the upcoming mass to be served in Sourb Khach Church on Akhtamar Island in Lake Van, Eastern Turkey.

"That must not surprise [us], especially when it comes to Turkey: since 1991 they have been implementing an apparently inimical policy towards Armenia," said he.

According to Mr Chakryan this is a sensitive issue because the Turks are telling the whole world that they have invited the Armenians to that mass.

"In both cases the Turks will win. But now we have to calculate in what case they will speculate [over the issue] less and to orientate ourselves," explained he.

Further he said that Armenia should have a low-profile representation in the mass, demonstrate restraint and avoid being part of the show as it happened last time.
