Azerbaijan accepts its fiasco: Eduard Sharmazanov

Chief of the Foreign Relations Department of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration Novruz Mammadov has for the second time accepted that his country is suffering a fiasco in foreign relations as he confesses that Armenia’s positions are becoming stronger and that Yerevan is openly dictating its will to Turkey, Spokesperson for the Republican Party of Armenia told Tert.am asked to comment on Mammadov’s statement over the Russian-Armenian defense pact.

According to Mr Sharmazanov with this statement a new wave of anti-Russia and anti-West hysteria is kicking off.

“Things have come to a point that Mammadov is accusing the West of openly supporting Armenia, questioning Moscow mediating unbiasedness as a Minsk Group co-chair country,” said Mr Sharmazanov.

Earlier in an interview with Azerbaijani news website APA Mr Mammadov accused the West and Europe of “doing their best to support Armenia.” He also questioned Russia’s credibility as a mediator state.

“Second, Russia takes the neutral status and participates in the process of solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict. But it is difficult to be a non-partisan mediator making such statements and giving support. All of these cannot be packed within same frame. That is the main issue,” Mr Mammadov had said in the interview.
