HAK is planning a rally on Azatutyun Square: Will authorities allow?

At 9 am on August 30 local Armenian opposition movement Armenian National Congress (HAK) submitted a written notification to the City Hall of Yerevan, informing the local authorities that it is planning to hold a rally on September 17.

The rally will be held on Azatutyun Square in downtown Yerevan.

According to HAK's information center, there was no announcement about any other events to be organized by state or non-governmental organizations on the announcement board at the City Hall when HAK representatives were submitting the notification.

This means that according to the "Law about organizing assemblies, rallies, marches and meetings" of the Republic of Armenia (Article 13, Section 1, and Point 2) the City Hall has no grounds to forbid the event.
