YSU rector discontent with professions applicants chose this year

Yerevan State University has 3006 freshmen this year, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan said at a press conference today.

Though content with the number of applicants Mr Simonyan is dissatisfied with the professions they have chosen.

In his words, as usual the predominant professions chosen this year are economics, law and international relations.

Few applicants have chosen professions related to subjects like physics, chemistry and biology. Pharmacy has also been of relative interest this year.

Mr Simonyan further said that every year usually 100 students are dropped out of the university due to different reasons, also due to insolvency.

He also said that the YSU budget makes a total of 6.5 billion drams half of which is used to pay salaries.

Besides, big sums are necessary for the maintenance of the building and preservation of the property, as well as for heating, he said.
