Ruben Hakhverdyan won't refuse Turks' offer

Prominent Armenian song-writer, guitar player and singer Ruben Hakhverdyan has not been offered to sell the copyright of his songs to Turks, the singer said at a press conference today as he commented on recent reports.

“That is a flagrant lie,” said he, adding that he would not repudiate such a proposal if offered.

“If the words of my songs are distorted here and there, wouldn’t it be better if they were performed in pure Turkish?” said he in apparent irony, adding that we shouldn’t blindly hate any other nation.

Speaking about the modern traditions in the art of singing, especially about those low-quality songs sung in restaurants and called “rabis” otherwise, Mr Hakhverdyan said that even animals are getting afraid of that what he called “roaring.”

Further he said that some people among Government officials also listen to those songs and carry a Turkish-style life.
