EU is concerned about ceasefire violations on Karabakhi-Azerbaijani contact line: Peter Semneby

The European Union is concerned about the recent violations of peace accord on the Karabakhi-Azerbaijani contact line, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby said at a meeting with journalists in Azerbaijan.

Asked whether or not the body of an Azerbaijani soldier, killed at a recent violation of peace accord on the Karabakhi-Azerbaijani border, is in the Armenian side, Mr Semneby declined answering.

"That is up to OSCE, there are also other humanitarian organizations dealing with such issues. I will not comment unless this issue is resolved," said he.

"Of course, the EU is pursuant with the preservation of the international law and human rights. But I am saying it again: I would not like to make any comment on the issue, unless all the details are unveiled."

At the same time, Mr Semneby said that he would like to discuss the Nagorno Karabakh issue.

"We are hopeful that the OSCE co-chairs will support us to study this issue and will provide an impetus to the progress in the peace process."
