Discussion of Azerbaijani resolution in UN has been delayed

The discussion of a resolution in the UN General Assembly, initiated by Azerbaijan over its disputed territories, has been delayed, according to a report on the official website of the UN.

The infamous resolution, originally scheduled to be brought to a vote on September 7 will be brought on the UN GA agenda on September 9.

Earlier Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan said that his resolution is one-sided and will negatively affect the negotiation process with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

"I think the same viewpoint share also those countries which back the parties over the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," Nalbandyan had said.

Contrary, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan in turn said last week that the resolution will not have significant impact neither on the politics, nor on the economy and nor on security issues of Artsakh and Armenia if adopted.

"Several dozens of countries will probably vote in favor of that resolution. Perhaps, those countries that are always in reconciliation with Azerbaijan: first of all they will be the members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. But I am sure that all those countries willing this conflict to be resolved peacefully and through negotiations, will vote against this resolution or at least will abstain as they are well aware that the adoption of these kind of resolutions cannot have any positive effect on the negotiation process," said Mr Sargsyan.
