Armenian high-ranking officials paid tribute to freedom fighters in Yerablur

A group of high-ranking Armenian officials, headed by President Serzh Sargsyan, have this morning visited Yerablur Pantheon - the cemetery of the Armenian freedom fighters killed during the Artsakh war in early 1990s.

The visit comes as part of celebrations of the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia.

Mr Sargsyan placed a wreath at the memorial dedicated to the soldiers who went missing during the war.

The president was accompanied by Chairperson of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan, Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan,
National Security Secretary General Arthur Baghdasaryan, Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan and Karen Karapetyan, Chief of Staff to the President.

Passing by journalists Mr Sargsyan congratulated them on behalf of the entire group.

Yerablur was visited also by many freedom fighters, private citizens, youth, children accompanied by their parents.

Some 4-5 citizens came up to the president and handed letters to him following a short conversation.
