Azerbaijan poses a threat to regional security: Edward Nalbandyan

Azerbaijan’s poses a threat to regional security and continues dismissing the proposal to agree upon the non-use of force or the threat of using force which runs counter the principles of the UN, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan told at a UN summit on Tuesday in New York, dedicated to the Millennium Development Goals - a program launched by the United Nations in 2000.

“Azerbaijan continues dismissing the proposal to agree upon the non-use of force or the threat of using force. This runs counter to the principles of the UN whose founders came in unison with the aim to prevent the offsprings from the atrocities of war. Today we are witnessing Azerbaijan’s bellicose attitude, the multiplication of its military budget, the war rhetoric and the provocations, which pose a threat to the regional security,” said he.

Further Mr Nalbandyan said that there are still peoples that the international community has failed to pay due attention to.

“While we are talking about the progress achieved within the Millennium Development Goals and are sharing our concerns over the aims not achieved yet, there are [still] peoples that have been left beyond the international community’s attention. The person of Nagorno Karabakh is doing its best to create more favorable living conditions and ensure the protection of human rights in its territory. And it is doing it without the international community’s help,” noted Armenia’s foreign minister.

He also said that Nagorno Karabakh continues to expect relevant assistance programs.

“As long as the damages caused to innocent people have not been eliminated due to inaction, we cannot register that all the aims of the Millennium Development have been realized and that equality and justices has been secured at the international level.”
