Kosovo asks Armenia to recognize its independence

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan met with his Kosovan counterpart Skender Hyseni in the framework of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to RFE/RL, during the meeting Mr Hyseni has one more time asked Armenia to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

Mr Hyseni has focused on two issues essential for Kosovo. He, particularly, pointed to the fact that the International Court of Human Rights has clearly expressed in favor of Kosovo, while the UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution welcoming the Court’s ruling.

Also, he has said that the recent developments have eventually created an opportunity to ensure that no single country has any reason not to officially recognize the new country’s independence.

Edward Nalbandyan, in turn, has said that Armenia welcomes the ruling by the International Court of Human Rights and will continue maintaining contacts and holding meetings with Kosovo.
