Moscow mayor Yuri Lushkov’s resignation may be announced Monday

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov’s resignation may be announced at the beginning of the next week, sources close to the Moscow Municipality told Russian daily Kommersant.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is expected to come up with a decision that will see a division of power between Moscow’s mayor and the head of Moscow city administration, the sources added.

Further the newspaper mentions that his attains far more significance amid rumors about Luzhkov resignation, as there had been no talk about dividing that position before.
