Mournful parents demand fair trial

Parents of soldiers killed in non-combat situations during their military service in the army had again gathered in front of the Government Building this morning demanding fair trial in their sons’ cases.

“There is no system that rotten and putrid than the legal system,” some of the parents would say repeatedly in apparent despair and anguish.

Talking to Tert.am Tovmas Hayrapetyan, father of Andranik Hayrapetyan, who was killed in Karabakh’s Martakert region in 2008, said his son had according to the official version been killed by an Azerbaijani sniper – something the parents say is untrue.

“There are [were] signs on the child [’s body], that attest to his involvement in a scuffle. My son was killed [by an Armenian], rather than by the rival. The court proceeding has been suspended due the absence of the criminal gang. We will now appeal the case,” said he.

Joining those parents was also former political prisoner Vardges Gaspari who was holding a poster highly critical of Armenia’s the legal system.

“This system and generally all the three systems are so much rotten and coalesced with crimes, that I do not have any expectations,” said he.
