OSCE MG co-chairs to conduct mission in territories around Karabakh

On September 25 the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Ambassadors Bernard Fassier (France), Robert Bradtke (US) and Igor Popov (Russia) released a statement, elaborating on their work implemented on the margins of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York as well as on the date of the Field Assessment Mission to be conducted in the territories adjacent Nagorno Karabakh.

The statement reads as follow:

"The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs held separate meetings on September 23 in New York on the margins of the UN General Assembly session with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, and of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov. The OSCE Personal Representative of the Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, attended both discussions.

"The Co-Chairs informed both Ministers about the preparations for their upcoming Field Assessment Mission. The Co-Chairs will conduct the Mission from October 4-14, 2010, in the territories around Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Following on their preliminary contacts with UN officials in Geneva and New York, the Co-Chairs formally invited UNDP and UNHCR experts to participate in the Mission.

"In addition, the Co-Chairs confirmed to the Ministers their working plan for the following months, including preparations for the OSCE Summit in Astana."
