Armenia's Ministry of Diaspora may 'retire' now

Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora can now retire, as what it does is beyond understanding, member of Sardarapat movement and governance specialist Harutyun Mesrobyan told a press conference today.

“To tell you the truth till now I don’t understand what the Ministry of Diaspora is doing. In my view the ministry’s number one issue is to ensure immigration,” said he, adding that as far as he was informed the ministry’s staff mainly includes people who don’t have a pro-Armenian mindset.

“They have worked two for years; they can all retire [now]. To my opinion, instead of Ministry of Diaspora there should be a state body of immigration and absorption,” said he, explaining that Armenians coming back to the homeland could easily get adapted and grow.

According to him, that body should have 3 main functions – to accept the immigrants, to help them with accommodation and guide them.
