US genocide denier calls for removal of Article 310 from Turkey’s Constitution

The fight against the fact of the Armenian Genocide is hampered by Article 301 of the Turkish Constitution, Guenter Lewy, a professor at the Massachusetts University, who denies the Armenian Genocide, has said in a press conference at the office of Turkish Coalition of America in Washington.

“The success in that fight [against the fact of the Armenian Genocide] is depending on Turkey. And as long as Article 301 is in use, it makes the process hard, because you will be told that you are afraid of free researches. And they will be right over that issue. In no way can Article 301 be beneficial for Turkey,” Turkish news agency Anadolu quoted him as saying.

Speaking about current viewpoints over the Armenian Genocide in the US, he has said: “The predominant viewpoint in the American media, among the academic circles is that what happened constituted genocide. I consider it as wrong.”
