Azerbaijani-Armenians to convene 'alternative parliament' in Armenia: Grigori Ayvazyan

In a press conference today Grigori Ayvazyan, Head of the Assembly of Azerbaijani-Armenians, said that the community of Azerbaijani-Armenians living in Armenia has turned to the UN Ad Hoc Committee on Refugees and Stateless Persons and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to have its problems solved.

"If our problems aren't solved, we will convene an alternative mejlis [parliament] of Azerbaijani-Armenians, form a government and elect a president, so that the world will take into account also the rights of the Azerbaijani-Armenians," Mr Ayvazyan said.

Further he said that there have already been such precedents when the citizens of a given country have formed an alternative government in another country to raise their own problems and have attention focused on them.
