Parliament elects Samvel Balasanyan as new deputy chairman

Samvel Balasanyan, an MP affiliated with Bargavach (Prosperous) Armenia (BHK), has been elected as Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia.

Previously Mr Balasanyan was a member of the Rule of Law Party.

According to the coalition memorandum this position belongs to the BHK.

Before Mr Balasanyan the post was held by Arevik Petrosyan, who resigned recently.

Samvel Balasanyan, 56, was born in Armenia's second-largest town of Gyumri. He is married and is father of three.
