Young HAK marchers bypass Azatutyun Square blocked by police

A march held by young activists of opposition movement Armenian National Congress (HAK) passed without any incident.

The HAK say that the march is aimed at what they call "to immediately bringing Azatutyun Square back to the people."

Starting from the HAK central office on Koryun Street the participants reached Azatutyun (Liberty) Square but couldn't enter as the police had blocked all the entries to the square.

Chanting "Free, independent Armenia," "Levon president," "One plus one, plus one …" the participants bypassed Azatutyun Square and reached the building of Yerevan Municipality.

The Yerevan Municipality has rejected several requests by HAK to sanction a rally on Azatutyun Square - a venue opposition has traditionally used for demonstrations.
