Turks cross Armenian border

Members of Powerful Turkey Party have crossed the border with Armenia in the vicinities of Akhurian River which originates in Armenia and flows from Lake Tseli south, along the border with Turkey, forming part of the geographic border between the two states.

According to Turkish news agency Cihan, the move was aimed at calling on Ankara to reopen the border with Armenia.

Party leader Tuna Beklevic and other high-ranking officials are reported to have taken part in the campaign.

“Should the border not be opened until 2011, we will with a thousand of young Armenians and a thousand of young Turks cross the border in the same way. We require the authorities in both countries to positively respond to our call of opening the border,” Tuna Beklevic was reported as saying.
