President Sargsyan welcomes members of Armenian Relief Society on 100th anniversary

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the members (women only) of the Armenian Relief Society (ARS) from 26 countries.

The event took place on the occasion of its 100th anniversary late on Tuesday at the presidential residence in Yerevan.

President Sargsyan congratulated them on the jubilee, adding that the idea of establishing the ARS was possible to bring to life due to the level "education and up-bringing" the Armenian women had received and due to their "inborn wisdom and commitment."
"What the ARS has realized since 1910 up to day under various political and geographic circumstances, may and must be considered as bravery," said Mr Sargsyan.

"Today it is an occasion to stress that we are proud of the virtues of the Armenian women and are impressed by the scale of their sacrifices. The Armenian woman has a sense of civic duty which is displayed as a collective thought and collative power."

Further President Sargsyan said he wished them to never again have any occasion to remove pain and that all their programs be related only to issues concerning to development and advancement.

"Once again I congratulate the society's jubilee and wish you great success in your patriotic activities," said Serzh Sargsyan.
