EU welcomes dialogue between Armenian and Azerbaijan parties

The European Union welcomes the dialogue initiated between Armenian and Azerbaijani political parties, Roland Kobia, an EU high official, has said.

“We understand that the Karabakh conflict is complicated, and in such situations a dialogue is the most basic element to solve such issues. We welcome such contacts and hope that they will be continued in the future, which will help to build trust between the two states,” he was quoted by Azerbaijani news website 1newz.az.

Earlier the Armenian Pan-National Movement (HHSh) party, Azerbaijan’s Musavat and Georgia’s Republican Party signed a joint declaration in Potsdam last week.

Besides, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, ARF-D) participated at a summit of the Socialist International.
The SI’s chairperson Luis Ayala stated that the SI will on November 15-16 in Paris sign a document over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict based on the results of the SI meetings in Yerevan in June and the meetings in Baku held in October.

Kobia also said that the EU too is ready to assist Armenian and Azerbaijan to initiate a dialogue among various layers in the two societies.
