Aghasi Ayvazyan's dramaturgy theatre festival kicks off in Yerevan

The first theatre festival of Armenian playwright Aghasi Ayvazyan’s dramaturgy is kicking off in Yerevan.

Troupes from the regions and the capital will be taking part in the festival.

A Tbilisi-based theatre will also have a performance based on one of Ayvazyan’s plays.

A total of 18 theatres will participate in the festival.

Earlier Ayvazyan’s widow Greta Verdian-Ayvazyan had said that only 6 out of 23 of Ayvazyan’s plays have so far been staged.
She had also said that Aghasi Ayvazyan is not duly acknowledged.

Headed by Art Director of Yerevan’s Puppet Theatre Ruben Babayan the jury board includes also Karin Khodikyan, David Muradyan, Armen Vatyan and other well-known personalities.

The festival is sponsored by the humanitarian-educational fund after Aghasi Ayvazyan.

Armenia’s Ministry of Culture also supports the festival which will last till October 28.
