Karabakh map sparks scandal in Tehran press exhibition

The 17th International Festival and Exhibition of Press and News Agencies launched in Tehran today have been marred by a scandal between the Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations.

According to Azerbaijani news website APA, the scandal was sparked by a picture depicting a historical monument in Artsakh as a symbol of the history of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as a map and the national flag of Nagorno Karabakh Republic found in the booth of Armenia.

The Azerbaijani delegation demanded from Armenian journalists to remove all the material related to Nagorno Karabakh, but the latter did not remove them, explaining that the exhibition's organizers had been informed about it.

"Therefore, we thought that we can display the national flag and a picture of the map of Nagorno-Karabakh," Armenian journalists have reportedly said.

The event organizers in turn explained that the picture had during the preparatory process been submitted to them by the Armenian journalists and immediately demanded them to remove it.

Further one of Azerbaijani journalists removed the map of Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenian booth following a long quarrel.
Turkish journalists also attending the exhibition said they would abandon the exhibition together with Azerbaijanis, should the organizers not remove all that material from the Armenian booth.
