President's office denies any phone call with Joe Biden over Genocide and asks to publicize phone record (video)

Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan has never called the US Vice President Joe Biden, Armen Arzumanyan, the president's speaker, has said in a statement released today.

"Two phone conversations have upon the latter's [Joe Biden's] initiative taken place where Armenia's president has not made the statement attributed to him in the video - either neither directly or indirectly. On the contrary, Serzh Sargsyan has in all public speeches and official meetings highlighted the importance of the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, " read the statement.

Further it said that the presidential administration of Armenia gives its consent to the White House to publicize the recording of the above-mentioned phone call assuming that it has all the official records of phone calls by the US vice-president Joe Biden and their scripts at its disposal.

Earlier today a video posted on Youtube - and disseminated by a few media outlets - showed an Armenian activist talking to Vice-President Joe Biden saying "that the Turks have to come to the realization of what the reality is" in response to a  question about the Armenian Genocide.

He also said that Armenia's president called him, asking the Obama Administration to refrain from to refrain from force any decision on the Genocide issue at the moment.

Below is the text of the exchange between Biden and the activist follows.

Question: "I'm Armenian, and I want to thank you for the work you did in the Senate. I have a question. I am very involved in the Armenian American community and as you know we've been…"

Vice-President Biden: "Oh, I know."

Question: "… we've been very, very burned. I want to know what is the message that we should be giving to our community."

Biden: "What you should be giving to your community is that we are not backing off. The Turks have to come to the realization of what the reality is. And what we got to do is, you know, this, the compromise that was going on and being worked at for a while… Tell them that it was the Armenian President that called me and said 'Look, do not force this issue now, while we are in negotiations. We passed. That's past right now.' So anyway, reality has a way of intruding."
