Turkey is de facto in favor of Karabakh conflict, says expert

Turkey is in favor of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, at least de facto, if not de jure, Director of Noravanq Fund Gagik Harutyunyan told a press conference.

"As an analyst I think may be the aggressiveness, the offensive policy adopted by Azerbaijan is partially conditioned by the urgings from the Turkish side," said he.

Mr Harutyunyan also said that today the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is close than ever.

"The solution for us is the status quo that exists today," he explained, adding that the issue could have possibly been solved 10 years ago.

"Had [Ilham] Aliyev not caught himself in the trap of the anti-Armenian ideology, this issue could have possibly been resolved 10 years ago, by leaving part of the liberated territories under Azerbaijani rule in exchange of the recognition of Karabakh's independence," said Mr Harutyunyan.
