Government rejects bill on increasing minimal salary

In a session held today, the Government rejected Zharangutyun (Heritage) party’s bill on introducing changes in the “Law on Minimal Salary.”

Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arthur Grigoryan told the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan that the party proposed that the minimal salary in Armenia be increased from 30,000 to 45,000 drams.

Mr Grigoryan stressed that “it will result in additional expenses not envisaged by the budget.”

Earlier the Government had passed a decision on increasing the minimal salary only by 2500 Drams.

PM Tigran Sargsyan said the problem will be resolved gradually.

“The salary increase will be more significant in case there are more amounts in the budget,” he promised.
