Iraqi government to open embassy in Armenia

On Wednesday, November 3, Armenian Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq Murad Muradyan submitted the copies of his credentials to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, according to a release by Armenia’s Foreign Ministry.

After the official ceremony, the parties had a private meeting.

Congratulating the diplomat, FM Zebari hailed Armenia’s decision to open an embassy in Iraq, stressing at the same time that his country is planning to open an embassy of Armenia in the nearest future.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral interest, attaching importance to legal-contractual cooperation towards raising the effectiveness of bilateral ties and broadening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian dialogue.

At the end, the Iraqi top diplomat expressed hope that Armenian ambassador will contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties, promising to support him in his further efforts.
