Kidnappers of an Armenian child arrested in Moscow

Two Armenian nationals, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested in Moscow on charges of kidnapping the son of a famous 45-year-old Armenian businessman residing in Moscow, reports Interfax, citing sources in law enforcement agencies in Moscow.

It turned out that the child, Sasha, 9, was kidnapped on May 26 from the yard adjacent to their building.

The kidnappers hid the child in a building cellar, demanding 8 million Russian rubles in ransom and released him on May 31 after receiving the sum.

The child's father reported the incident to the police which instituted a criminal proceeding. The kidnappers were arrested near a restaurant entrance in Butirskaya Street.

The child recognized the criminals who later confessed to have committed the kidnapping. They are now facing charges.
