Tbilisi-Yerevan railroad to be modernized

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has highlighted the importance of having highly qualified professionals for the implementation of his country's economic development and new infra-structure projects.

"This year we spent as much money as we did last year. It will take us 2-3 years for modernizing the railway to Batumi. We are also in the process of constructing the Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway heading to Europe. The railways to Yerevan and Baku will be modernized as well. We'll spend about $1 billion USD for the implementation of projects and development of tourism infrastructure, however, we must have in mind that the more complex the infra-structure, the more difficult it is to take care of it," Mr Saakashvili said.
