Armenian poet’s house to be renovated and turned into pilgrimage place

Sargis Tkhruni Union of the Social-Democrat Hunchakyan party has voiced its concerns over Armenian media reports saying that great Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents’ house in Kars has turned into a hub for Turkish drug addicts.

“What’s even more, the house has been offered for sale at $175,000 US dollars. In that regard, Hunchakyan party’s Sargis Tkhruni Union expresses its willingness to assist in the renovation of the great poet’s house, by involving young volunteers’ potential in the construction work,” the union says in a release.

“Collecting the donations of different benefactors to buy the house and turn it into a pilgrimage place will be the best sign of respect for the great poet’s literary heritage. This is one of the ways to prove that Armenia, as a state, protects its people’s heritage in any part of the world,” says the release.
