We will do our best so that Sasun Mikaelyan celebrates New Year at home: Aram Manukyan

Opposition will do its best so that jailed political prisoner Sasun Mikaelyan will celebrate the New Year at home, Board Chairman of Armenian Pan-National Movement (HHSh) Party Aram Manukyan said as he addressed the public during today's rally near Matenadaran in downtown Yerevan.

"We will do everything so that Sasun [Mikaelyan] celebrates the New Year at home," said he.

Referring to the fact that the police detained 4 young activists during today's picket held by opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), Mr Manukyan said that they have not been released yet.

"We are calling on authorities, the police to release those youth till the end of today's march," said Mr Manukyan, adding that opposition's struggle is stepping into a new qualitative stage.

Speaking about the recent revelation of an Armenian mafia chain in US, he said that this boils down to the fact that the situation Armenia's ruling authorities are in is getting worse and worse.

"All this will like a boomerang come back to those international organizations that support this criminal authorities. It is this way that a drug business, corruption, criminal gang, export of uranium starts," said he, referring to a recent case when Armenian citizens smuggled enriched uranium to Georgia.
