Young opposition activists were subjected to violence, Aram Manukyan says

Touching on the recent arrest of opposition activists, Coordinator of opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) Levon Zurabyan characterized it as the "successive nervous convulsion of the police."

The two young HAK activists caught by the police on Charles Aznavour Square this morning have not yet been released.

According to HAK board president Aram Manukyan, traces of violence have been found on their bodies. The forensic medical expertise is underway.

"These authorities must be absolutely brainless to beat people in front of international experts," Manukyan told journalists.

At that, he described the opposition's rally as an attempt to bring the authorities to senses, not allowing them to arrest peaceful protestors and the population.

"We demand that Europe either makes these authorities comply with their commitments or turn away from them. Both Russia and EU and even the United States are now convinced that they supported gang-rulers," he stressed.
