Police disallowed young opposition activists to distribute letters to European officials

Opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) continues its rally on Charles Aznavur Square. The protesters are doing their best to make their voices heard by the participants of EU-Armenia conference that kicked off on Tuesday morning.

Our correspondent says the activists are carrying letters containing information on March 1, 2008 developments and violations of human rights in Armenia.

They first attempted to distribute them among European human rights defenders attending the conference, but the police interfered with their attempts to move forward.

“They tell us not to cross this line and prevent our movement. We brought 50 informative letters and have already distributed half of them,” the activists told Tert.am.

After debates with the police, the protesters moved away from Yerevan hotel’s entrance.
