Young opposition activists 'verbally assaulted policeman, tearing his uniform:' RA Police

The young activists of opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) have disobeyed the legal claims of policemen, Armenian Police says in an official release issued today.

"Suspected of using violence against a representative of authorities, citizens Areg Gevorgyan (born Jul. 28, 1987), Sargis Ghazaryan (born Apr. 5, 1992), Sargis Gevorgyan (born Apr. 5, 1992) and Vahagn Gevorgyan (born Jul. 19, 1991), were caught by the police on Charles Aznavur Square at 10:30 a.m. on November 9," reads the statement.

It also says that these citizens disobeyed the police demands, verbally assaulted one of the policemen and tore his uniform.

A forensic expertise has been appointed in this connection. An investigation is underway, it adds.
