Mountain wildfires in Vanadzor caused by people

Citizens of Vanadzor city in Lori marz (province) called the local emergency service at about 8 p.m. on Monday, informing of sporadic wildfires in the nearby woods spread on high mountains, press office of Armenia’s Rescue Service at the Ministry of Emergency Situations told Tert.am.

According to the same report Vanadzor’s Hay Antar (Armenian Forest) state non-trade organization told Armenia’s Rescue Service that the areas covered with woods are not posed to any threat.

Hay Antar’s employees stayed on service till midday. The fire extinguished itself at about 1 a.m.

Vanadzor’s Municipality dismissed the reports.

Talking to Tert.am an official said that fires of dry grass on the mountains are made by people in an attempt to make the soil fertile.
