Inmates protest in Yerevan's Hospital for Convicts

The inmates in the Hospital for Convicts in Yerevan started a protest earlier today, Arsen Babayan, Spokesman for Justice Ministry's Penitentiary Department told Tert.am.

According to him, the inmates are HIV carriers who demanded release from prison on account of their disease.

"Such demand conflicts with the legislations since HIV/AIDS is not included in the government-approved list of diseases not allowing imprisonment," Mr Babayan explained.

HE also said that the prison administration is currently negotiating with the inmates and their treatment is carried out on a proper level.
